Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's expected for questions to be raised about his position following a further heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in twelve matches, representing the club's worst streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got significant support from management,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to change things and earn three points of course but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that people question you.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my position. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the team officials, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I feel the belief. But I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Failings and Player Reaction

The manager expressed regret over recurring failings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't need to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a period such as this with performances like these.”

He finished, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is removed, we'll continue to compete.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, prove again the values of this club and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
