A man from Australia that leaped across a fence and grabbed actress Ariana Grande has been expelled and banned from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, twenty-six, was given a sentence to more than a week in detention for being a public nuisance and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority told Singaporean press.

He forced his way past photographers and rushed toward the celebrity, who was present at the regional launch for the musical adaptation on 13 November. Co-star Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.

Wen has a history of interrupting performances and high-profile gatherings, including rushing the stage at the pop star's Australian show in this summer.

The occurrence sparked outrage in Singapore, with numerous people saying he of re-traumatising Grande.

The singer has mentioned experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist bombing at her show in the English city in several years ago killed over twenty people and affected hundreds.

In the legal process, the authorities learned he had made efforts to breach on the red carpet event twice, according to local news sources.

He then made a another effort to breach security. Protection personnel intercepted him and restrained him.

Wen later posted videos thanking Grande for permitting his access and said he was "free."

Authorities detained him the following day and accused him with disorderly conduct, to which the man admitted guilt.

The Court Judge Christopher Goh was cited by media reports as remarking that Wen was "attention seeking", noting that he was mistaken to assume he would not face any penalties.

The actress has not addressed the incident.

Erivo mentioned the incident to a media outlet, remarking that she "simply desired to make sure my colleague was secure."

"I believe he didn't intend us harm, but you never know with such situations, and I wanted to make sure that she was OK. That was my immediate response," she said.
