Ex- Doctor Accused of Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients

Legal authorities have stated that a former physician has been charged with committing sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.

The Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.

A senior prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Investigation

These allegations come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

List of Offences

The charging documents outline the forty-five sexual offences include:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
