It's tough for the Australian squad to break new ground.

That it took up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the bowlers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It is hard for their batters to possess a record if never given the possibility.

Ultimately, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting a platform to produce her most recent brilliance.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and from there the right-hander was underway.

"An opportunity to go out there and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself that way, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was out Australia needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the belief to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, should it happen, we know we can do it."

Those words will be the last competing nations at this World Cup want to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will win from any position has become more firm - this victory coming after win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.
